Skiffle Music
Skiffle is a popular US musical form, a combination of folk, jazz and blues, often made with low-cost home-made or improvised instruments: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skiffle
Here is an example: Here is some old-time skiffle music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SPMcIP2obQ
It was briefly very popular in the UK in the late 1950s. A major hit was Rock Island Line by Lonnie Donegan. Video (the song doesn’t really get going until 1:50): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wI4nRD-DRpk
Skiffle was an important stepping stone to rock and roll for British youth: in the words of Billy Bragg the singer-songwriter, ‘it empowered young people to make their own music’.
